In light of the 100th anniversary of the separation of Church and State in the 1925 Constitution
The UC Center for Law and Religion is a research center dedicated to the study of the relationships between law and religion, from the perspective of the fundamental right to religious freedom which – according to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights – consists of “everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.”

Our mission is to promote research and dialogue on law and religion in Latin America, disseminating high-quality research that strengthens the understanding of religious freedom and State-Church relations, within the framework of mutual respect and democratic coexistence.
We invite you to join our community to learn about our outreach activities for the general public and the internal activities of the Center for Law and Religion.
